Marlee had always called her grandmother, "B". It was easy for her to say for one reason. For another reason it was easy for the writer of these stories to call her Grandma B; Marlee just shortened it for me. Grandma B is Marlee's daddy's mama.
Marlee has a large family. She has grandmas and they are all called different names. She has an aunt that is a grandma but not Marlee's! So Marlee calls her naynay hence the Naynay & Family Detective Agency that she has used a few times to help solve mysteries. Naynay has grandchildren that call her Grammy.
Charlie calls her Grandmother "Nanny".
Marlee has another Grandmother whom she calls Lollie; she is Marlee's mama's mama.
Some of Marlee's friends have a French background and they call their grandmothers Me'me. They are Sawyer, Orion, and J.J. Their ancestors came from a different country than ours; France and Canada. Young children always called their parents' mothers me'me. It kind of sounds like maymay. People from other countries often speak differently than we do. Someday we might talk about that.
Grandma Lu's children had only one (1) grandmother when they were little, so they called her Grandma. When Grandma Lu's children had children they started calling her Grandma Lu. Many children now call Grandma B's friend Grandma Lu.
Addison calls her grandmother, Grandma Honey!
Sawyer calls his grandmother meme. I don't know if he pronounces it with the French sound or meme like it looks.
Many children call their grandmothers Nana.
Marlee has one more grandmother. She is Grandma B's mama. Marlee calls her Nanny.
I'm sure that there are more grandmas that I am not aware of.
You know what else? Marlee doesn't care. She only cares about being part of a wonderful world of love. Here are some pictures of Marlee's grandmothers as well as some of her friends' grandmothers. They may all have different names, but they all have something in common. They all love Marlee very much as well as their own grandchildren. They think Marlee's adventures while not always real are so much fun.
Today we aren't going to have a story, just pictures of grandmas.
There are many more grandmas that have been part of Marlee's adventures also. Grandma Rhonda is Orion's and J.J.'s grandmother.
There were grandmas along the way in Marlee's very long vacation. One was a motel clerk; her name was Charlene.
Of course, Grandma Lu and also the elderly grandmother whom many called Me'me, Marie Lizotte.
A grandma is quick to hug, quick to give a kiss for a boo boo and always there with a snack. Grandmas tend to give their little grandchildren things that their parents would not, like snacks in bed. lol Grandparents are there sometimes to raise and care for their grandchildren if for some reason the parents cannot.
Grandmas are an integral part of a child's life. They have so much love to give and often show it. It's called love by hugs! A traditional grandma makes wonderful cookies, and plays games. A modern grandma may take you on vacations and go to amusement parks.
Grandma Lu's grandma made huge cookies and kept her teenage secrets from time to time. Precious memories.
And now you see why I have to have a little notebook right by my computer so I know who is who. Lol Marlee is such a lucky little girl. Someday I'm sure she will realize it.
