Marlee Hunts For Treasure

One day Grandma B told Marlee that she thought there might be hidden treasure on her Mini Farm. Marlee didn't know what " treasure" was and gave Grandma B an odd look. Grandma B explained to Marlee that treasure is something that is very special to people. Some people think that gold is treasure. Some people think that jewelry is a treasure and some folks just think that anything pretty is a treasure. Sometimes pretty rocks and pretty flowers are treasures too. Little did Marlee know, but Grandma B thought that Marlee was the best treasure that she could think of that day.
Grandma B had given Marlee a small treasure chest some time ago, but Marlee had added her special things to the chest and now it was full. She now had a "Treasure Bucket." The treasure bucket was pretty big and it had a little shovel that went with it. Grandma B told her that if she found something pretty she could put it in her bucket someday when they went on a treasure hunt. Well, Marlee remembered that and the next time she had an "over night" at Grandma B's she asked if they could go on a treasure hunt.  Grandma B told her that if she was a good girl that she and Marlee could go hunting for treasure the next day.

After breakfast the next morning, Grandma B and Marlee got ready for a treasure hunt. Marlee put on her farm boots and Grandma B handed her her big lavender bucket and away they went. Grandma B and Marlee started walking towards a big big tree. Around the tree there were big rocks. Zoe, the big puppy wanted to go treasure hunting with Marlee and Grandma B too. Let's see if Marlee finds any treasure today. Marlee learned the word, "big" today. She is getting to be a big girl.

Marlee And The Ant

One day Marlee and Grandma B went for a ride in her funny car. They rode all over the farm. They saw the horses and the donkeys. The dogs loved to run after Grandma B and Marlee. They barked and barked.
All of a sudden, Marlee started pointing with her pointy finger and yelled, "B, look, pretty!" Grandma B looked where Marlee was pointing and she smiled. She saw a big flower garden full of pink flowers. The flowers were really big, and really tall. She wondered if Marlee would like to pick some to take to the house.
Grandma B stopped the funny car and told Marlee that she could have some of the flowers for a bouquet. Marlee showed Grandma B what flowers she would like. Grandma B picked three (3) of the flowers for Marlee and put them in her bucket. Marlee put the big pink flower up to her nose and oh, it smelled so good! All at once Marlee made a funny noise. Grandma B looked to see what the matter was. Marlee was shaking the flower and kept saying, "No, no, no!" Grandma B couldn't find out what was going on with Marlee. She went to take the flower away so she could see Marlee's face. There was a tiny little ant! Oh there were two (2) little ants! One of the ants had decided to crawl on Marlee's hand and was heading towards her nose that she had buried in the big pretty flower. Before Grandma B could help Marlee, Marlee took that flower and bam! turned it upside down in her bucket. The ants flew, and the flower got a little smashed.
Wow! Who knew that picking pretty flowers could be so exciting? I wonder if Marlee and Grandma B had any flowers for a bouquet for the house? I hope so because Marlee loves pink flowers.

Marlee Learns Something New From Grandma B

Marlee was kind of in a goofy mood today. She was thinking of things to do because it seemed like everybody was busy today. Marlee likes to toddle around looking in the porch to see if Stashia was there. Nope, no doggie. Then Marlee decided that she would go in the kitchen to see what Grandma B was doing. Hmm, she wasn't in there. Marlee smiled to herself. She saw something good to eat on her highchair. "Wow, said Marlee to herself, that's a high reach for me. Uhh, wow I finally got it." Oh the smiles, she tasted it with her little finger. "Ahh chocolate pudding. Grandma B is so nice. She left that on my highchair just so I could help myself like a big girl!"
Marlee knew that Grandma B usually gave her a spoon to eat her pudding with, but she didn't see one. "Let's see, how do you think you should eat this pudding, Marlee," she said to herself. She grinned because she sounded just like Grandma B. "I am getting to be a big girl. I talk to myself just like Grandma B."
One day a long time ago Grandma B had let Marlee help her with some cooking.
They had made pudding that day. "Oh, I know, I will eat it with my fingers because that's what Grandma B did that day. She licked her fingers and said, "Oh my, that's yummy, Marlee."
Marlee sat down on the floor and ate her snack all by herself like a big girl. Just like Grandma B.
After Marlee was done with her pudding she started to go look for Grandma B because she wanted more pudding that was so good! This is what Grandma B saw when Marlee arrived out on the porch: The fashion books say that chocolate pudding is the new look for 2018

Marlee and the Door and the Bruise

Marlee was in a bad mood the other day.
"It didn't seem that anything went right. First thing that happened is that I had to sit on that stupid chair again. Then after that I dropped a cheese puff and Stashia ate it! Things went from bad to worse. I wanted to help Grandma B get myself dressed and I got two legs in one of my pants legs and Grandma B seemed upset with me. Good grief, I can help." I kept saying, "I do it, B. That did not seem to be the right thing to say." She said, "Another time, Marlee, B is in a hurry today. We have lots of things to get done. The rain came and that makes the lawn pretty and green That also means it needs to be mowed. I want to get that all done before the sun comes out and it gets hot.

Marlee said, "Okay, B, I'll hurry." Right about then, Marlee had an accident. She had to get herself untangled from her pants. She was trying to hurry, truly she was, when it happened! Marlee turned around and started to run to her clothes that were on the floor. She didn't watch where she was going and ran right into the bedroom door. Wham!
Grandma B ran over to Marlee and said, "Oh, my goodness, Marlee, are you okay?" Well Marlee had started to cry and Stashia came over, then Spaz started to meow and have a little dance. Then the phone rang, then someone knocked at the door! It was the man that brings feed for the horses. Marlee could hear Grandma B mutter something under her breath, like, "Brother, when it rains it really pours around here." So Marlee decided to cry harder. Then Marlee cried really hard when she saw Grandma B walk on her bag of cheese puffs!
Grandma B told the man where to put the horse feed, then she sat down and said, "Okay, Marlee baby, Grandma B is just going to sit here with you for awhile. We are going to slow down, not get dressed for awhile and have some Cheerios. What do you think of that?"
Marlee thought that sounded like a plan. "These are really good, thought Marlee, and the milk is delicious!"

This is sweet Marlee after her Cheerios and milk. She hoped that the rest of the day turned out just as good as these things tasted.

Marlee And Stashia Have A Secret Conversation

Marlee was just at a loss. Marlee needed a friend that she could talk to today. She noticed that Stashia was just laying around so she went over to her and just sat down and put her arm around her and sighed.
Marlee said, "I sure wish you could talk, I need to talk to someone about Grandma B. I'm worried about her."
Stashia looked up and said, "I can talk, but you can't tell anyone. If you do, I will eat all your snacks and you will get in trouble with Grandma B. What's the matter with her?"
"You wouldn't eat all my snacks, would you? That would be mean. I wouldn't give you any of my cookies!"
Stashia just stared at her and said, "Oh, all right. What gives?"
"Well, the other day when I was here we were having so much fun. We went for a ride and we picked flower. I even got to eat some of the "sparagus" stuff. Then everything changed; just like that. Grandma B said, "Okay, Marlee, today we are going to learn how to go potty on the potty chair." I thought, "Okay, I'm cool, I'll go along with this because Grandma B is always so much fun. But, Stashia, that is not fun! First she is serious about this and puts cute panties on me. I liked that, but when I got them wet, she didn't seem pleased at all! So then she explained I had to sit on this little chair called a potty chair and do my business in it. Well, I liked sitting on it. I could make Grandma B happy doing that. It seems that when I stood up I got water stuff on the floor and the footstool and Grandma B wasn't too cool with that. What do you think got into her, Stashia? I thought everything was fine. All of a sudden she got this weird idea I had to sit on that chair. And get this, Stashia, it's green like "sparagus" Yuk!"
Well Stashia couldn't help it, she chuckled like only a dog can. This is what she told Marlee. "Short person, when I was just a puppy, Grandma B got this same notion in her head. She got all upset when I put water stuff on the floor and she made me go outside. She did that over and over and over. Finally, I decided if I wanted to make Grandma B happy I would have to pee outside. That's what you call it, Short person, pee."
Well Marlee listened to Stashia and knew that what she said was true. She had seen Grandma B take Stashia outside to pee. "Well, how long did it take you to learn how to do this? Did she make you sit on a green chair too?"
"No, you silly little girl, dogs don't sit on potty chairs. It won't take you too long to learn how because pretty soon your mama and daddy will have you do the same thing at home. You don't have a chance, Short person, you gotta do what they say, sorry."
"Marlee gave Stashia a hug and said, "Well, if you did it so can I. Thanks for the talk, I needed a friend today."
Stashia leaned against her and said, "Anytime, just don't tell anyone that I can talk.  Remember what I told you. Good luck!"

Marlee Says It Was An Asparagus/Doughnut Kind Of Day

This week when Marlee visited Grandma B it was really fun! They did so many things she wasn't sure she would be able to tell Mama and Daddy everything that they did. The most fun thing in the world is when Grandma B gets out the Ranger. The Ranger is a fun car that they take hay and feed out to the horses and donkeys. They also take the Ranger out for rides and look for stuff. There is fun stuff at Grandma B's house. There are trees and flowers and animals and just good stuff!
Well today Grandma B took us out to where there was green stuff growing and flowers. Grandma B let me pick out some flowers that I wanted and guess what, they were pink, my favorite color in the whole wide world.
Grandma B said that I could eat some of that green stuff. I didn't know for sure if I could like it, but I loved it! I ate three pieces of it. It is called asparagus. It sure was good. Grandma B says that it is good for me too. Pretty soon it was time to go to the house. We needed a snack to hold us over until lunch time. Grandma B is pretty good about stuff like that. She always has good things for us to snack on. Today Grandma B gave me a doughnut. Oh, it was so good, but it got my hands all sticky! Grandma B said that she would wash my hands for me so I finished my doughnut to the very last little bite! I love my Grandma B.

Marlee Tells On Grandma B!

When Marlee got home from Grandma B's house the other day, she wanted to talk to her daddy! When she found him the conversation sounded a bit like this:
"Daddy, I  need to talk to you about Grandma B. She doesn't seem to understand when I feed Stashia potato chips. All I did was dump them on the floor for the doggie and Grandma B said, 'NO.' So I said "NO" right back. Grandma B didn't smile. She picked up the chips and told me not to feed them to Stashia and further more, I couldn't have the whole bag of chips any more, just a little dish full. What do you think of that, Daddy?"
Well, her daddy couldn't help it, he smiled. He just had a feeling that it would have been fun to watch the little war of words at Grandma B's house. Daddy knew that at times his little Marlee could show an attitude. He remembered his little girl even when she was a baby in his arms that she made her wants and needs known, loudly if need be. Marlee is a sweet little girl and her mama and daddy and Grandma B just love her to pieces!

Marlee Says Cooking Is Serious Business!

Once again, Grandma B was having company. "Boy, thought Marlee, cooking takes a lot of time! Last time Grandma B had company I helped Grandma B clean. She said I was a good girl and she gave me hugs! So I guess this time I'd better help her cook. She has trouble getting everything ready on time."
"First I had better decide what our company would like to eat."

That's what Grandma B always says, "I wonder what they would like to eat."
"I have a specialty and it's easy for me to get ready on time so I guess that's what I'll fix today.

First to find all my pots and pans that are under my stove. I think that two (2) of them should do it. Okay, now I don't need a recipe for this dish, I know it by heart."
"Now to get into my cupboard for all the ingredients that I need. The first thing I have to do is put some different snacks together. I think about a cup full should be enough. Then I have to stir it to make sure that it will taste just right. I had better taste it to make sure it will be just perfect for company. Grandma B always tastes food before she gives it to company to eat. I wonder if Grandma B will be proud of me for helping for company? I wonder who the company will be?
I sure hope that they are hungry!"

Stashia Tells About That Short Person

Today was the day that the little short human of Grandma B's was here again. She is so busy! She walks, and stops, and stoops over and picks things up, puts stuff over there on the table. Then she trots over by the window. Yes, I said, trot. She never is still. Me? I like to lay in the sun and daydream about bones to chew on. I like to think that someday I will chase a squirrel and be outside when I chase it. I would really like to think that someday I will be petted with a hand that wasn't sticky. That little short person's hands are always sticky!
Let me tell you about today though. She was all dressed when she got here. Then she made a mess, Grandma B had to change her clothes. Then I couldn't believe it; I looked at her fingernails and they were blue! Yes they were, they were blue. No respectable dog would have blue nails, that's for sure. What a bother.
My day was going from okay to not so good when Grandma B took that little girl out to her porch. Well that's where my treats are! Oh no! She's going to eat my treats! Grandma B saved the day. She had a jar of treats for that little girl that she calls Marlee and a jar of treats for me. Well that little girl just helped herself to my treats! I'm telling you what. I couldn't believe my eyes and then something wonderful happened. That little short person gave me one of her cookies. Just like that! I could have just kissed her, but then she put one of my treats in her mouth. Yes she did.
Oh, it gets worse. Grandma B told Marlee not to eat my treats because they were nasty. What? If they are so nasty why does Grandma B buy them for me and gives that little short person the good stuff?
I think I have to think about my day. I think it's quiet in the living room. I really need some piece and quiet.
She did give me a cookie though.....

Marlee Had A Dream

Sometimes when Marlee visits Grandma B she takes a nap. Sometimes she takes two (2) naps! The reason Marlee has to take a nap is because she is so busy at Grandma B's house that she gets really tired. Grandma B has such fun things to do. Marlee gets to help with the chores, she gets to help with the cleaning, and she also helps with the cooking. Marlee loves to help her Grandma B.
Some days she falls asleep in her Grandma B's lap before she can even lay down in her crib.
Well, the other day when Marlee took a nap she had a dream. A dream is like a movie in your sleep. Marlee had a fun dream about when she was a baby. She was a cute baby and other people thought so too.
Let's eavesdrop into Marlee's dream... Oh, look there is Marlee's Great Grandma Carolyn holding her. Where are they? Oh they are in town during the Fall Festival. Her little hometown has had a Fall Festival for many years. There are all kinds of fun things to do; food to eat, and a parade for all the people to watch. Some winners of contests given during the Fall Festival get to be in the parade. Let's see what else is going on in Marlee's dream... Oh, there is Grandma B! She is holding Marlee and looking like she is having a good time and smiling too! What is going on do you think?
Guess what, Marlee won the Cute Baby Contest for 2017 in her little town!
Marlee got tired and started to cry. She didn't care about a Fall Festival T-shirt that day. So sweet.
Marlee was tossing and turning and started to wake up. Grandma B went in to check on Marlee and saw her smiling in her sleep. It was time to get up and enjoy her day with Grandma B.

Marlee's Daddy Was Tired

Marlee's daddy had worked hard all day. He was hot and tired and ready to go home. He didn't want supper, he just wanted peace and quiet. His job was noisy and not a bit peaceful. He worked outside today and it was very hot.

He wanted to go home and rest in a nice quiet house with air conditioning.

When he got home this is what he saw:  Marlee and her mama. All of a sudden he didn't feel tired any more. He didn't want quiet either. He didn't want to just sit and be quiet. Marlee's daddy loves her and her mommie. He wanted hugs! He wanted to laugh and play. He loves his family.
Well maybe he could have something to eat after all. Having supper with his family and sharing smiles was the very best part of his day; today and every day.

Marlee and her mama and daddy decided that they would go out to eat and then go for a ride.
Where does Marlee like to go? Who does Marlee and her mama and daddy like to visit?
Grandma B, that's who!

Marlee's Surprise

The other day, Grandma B called Grandma Lu on the phone. They always talked about their grandchildren. It was their favorite thing to talk about. Well, Grandma B told Grandma Lu that she had a surprise for Marlee. Of course, Grandma Lu wanted to know what it was.
Grandma B laughed and said, "Well, I took Marlee for a ride to the store the other day and bought her something new. I bought her some bubbles in a jar. She had to learn how to dip the little bubble maker into the jar, hold it out in front of her and blow. Marlee isn't very old and learning how to blow bubbles took a little while, but she did it. She is so smart, Grandma Lu." Grandma Lu smiled and agreed when she looked at the pictures of Marlee that Grandma B had sent her on her phone.
Marlee indeed, was a very smart little girl and so cute!
Can you see the bubbles that Marlee made?
Just think, Grandma B found fun in a jar!

What Has Marlee Been Waiting For?

What do you think that Marlee has been waiting for? Marlee is happy today. She is going for a ride with her Mama, her Daddy, her Uncle, and her Grandma B. What does Marlee see while she is taking a ride?
What color are the flowers, Marlee? Do you see a dog? What is the dog's name? Do you see a horse?
What is Marlee not wearing today? She has a cute shirt on with a smiley face, but I don't see a jacket. I don't see a hat. Does that mean that Spring has come to Grandma B's farm? Does it get warm in the spring time? What can Marlee do outside in the spring at Grandma B's house?
Marlee has been waiting a really long time to be able to go outside without a jacket or hat. Spring time is going to be so much fun at Grandma B's house. Grandma B has a surprise for Marlee pretty soon. A good surprise that Marlee and Grandma B can do together outside. What fun!

Marlee And The Cheese Puff Caper

Grandma B was stumped! Marlee was visiting today and she was checking to make sure that she had snacks for Marlee. She knew that she had just gone to the grocery store and purchased some Cheese Puffs in a great big jar that Marlee loved to snack on. She couldn't find that great big jar anywhere. She looked in the kitchen cupboards; she looked in her big pantry; she even looked in the

washing machine room! She chuckled and thought, I need that old detective Sherlock Holmes to help me find those silly things. He had a magnifying glass to help him get clues to solve mysteries. Grandma B really really had a mystery!

Grandma B laughed and said, "I might as well look in the refrigerator I've looked everywhere else." Then she thought, "Oh, no you don't think that Stashia would have eaten all those cheese puffs, would she?" She looked for Stashia and she was resting on her bed being a very good dog.
She laughed to herself and said, "I must be getting old and forgetful, maybe I left them in the car and forgot to bring them in the house. Marlee was out on the porch when Grandma B went through there to go to her car to search for the missing Cheese Puffs. Guess what Grandma B found.
It seems that when Marlee is really quiet surprising things happen.
Boy, those Cheese Puffs look good, don't they?
I wonder if Marlee will share with Grandma B.
