Marlee Has Her Nails Done As A Reward

Marlee and Charlie and Brandon and both Grandmas worked really really hard getting the new Christmas supplies out of their boxes and on the shelves. Charlie had to check all the papers that came in the boxes to make sure that the prices were right. They all had to check to see if anything was broken. They were very very lucky. Everything arrived in good shape.
After
When they were all through Brandon and Charlie and her grandma went home. They had worked hard enough for one day.
Grandma B had something up her sleeve. She said, "Marlee how would you like a manicure?" Well Marlee had no idea what a manicure was, but when her "B" started getting out the polish and things she knew immediately what was going to happen. Her mama liked to polish Marlee's finger nails and toe nails to make them look cute too. There is another word for Marlee to learn: pedicure. That is a word to describe getting your feet and toenails all soaked and polished.  So for a treat today Marlee got both a manicure and a pedicure didn't she?
Here are some pictures of what some beauty shops have for their customers to choose from for nail polish. There are so many colors! How could you choose what color to have your nails polished if you were Marlee? Would you choose blue, or yellow, or white, or black, or gray, or orange or red? Would you ever want your fingernails to have different colors on them? Some big people even have designs painted on their toes. How fun!

Do you see other colors? I think I do. Count how many different colors of nail polish that you see.
Oh look see that pretty pink beauty shop chair? That is just the right size for Marlee's baby doll isn't it?
Look at all the pictures of fingers and toes!
How many feet do you see? Now how many fingers do you see? Isn't it fun to know how to count? You will see many many things to count as you grow up. Marlee can already count some things. It is fun to count and find new colors all the time.
Can you find the yellow filp flops?
Can you find the white shoes? Can you see black flip flops? There are other colors too. Do you see them?
The next time Marlee has a story we will probably see something new. Talk to you soon!

Marlee Gets An Unexpected Gift

Marlee was playing at Grandma B's house when the phone rang. Grandma B answered it. When she had finished talking she said, "Guess what, Marlee, Mrs. Jo Ann wants us to go have lunch with her today."
Well as you can imagine, Marlee not only liked Mrs. JoAnn but loved to go out to eat. Today they were going to eat at the pizza place. She didn't especially care for pizza crust, but she liked the toppings and of course, the dessert that they served at the buffet. Marlee's mama and Grandma Lu were there too so it was a little party. Marlee had a good time. They had place mats that she could color. As you know Marlee likes to have a pretty place mat when she eats. An interesting thing about Marlee. She only will drink water or milk and almost always orders water when she goes out to eat.
Marlee always takes good care of her baby doll and is very social at the table. She enjoyed visiting with everyone there while she was waiting for her food.
Everyone was so impressed with Marlee's good behavior. Mrs. Jo Ann and Grandma Lu couldn't believe how much she had grown since the last time that they had had lunch with her.
Grandma B got Marlee some candy out of the machine which kept her and her Grandma B busy for awhile since the candy didn't want to stay in the little bowl or on the table. Oh well, they all had fun.
Just before everyone decided to leave Mrs. Jo Ann reached down beside her and got into a bag on the floor. Out came a gift for Marlee! It was a doll that was dressed just like her on Red Hat occasions. It was a Red Hat doll. Oh Marlee loved it. Here are some pictures for you to see.
Marlee assured Mrs. Jo Ann that her new Red Hat doll would be on a shelf for everyone to see, but also for safe keeping. What a wonderful gift.
Mrs. JoAnn Robinson is the Queen of the local Red Hat Society. She is their leader in her community since 2007. The Red Hat Society does good work for their community while they have fun. They had a fund raiser for the local Senior Center in October which raised considerable funding for the Meals On Wheels Program. That is a program for older or disabled people that can't go out to eat like Marlee gets to.

Marlee Asks Brandon For A Favor

Marlee called in sick yesterday because she is two (2) and didn't want to work. She wasn't really sick. You can't do that when you are a grownup because that lets your co-workers down. They end up having to do your work plus theirs. Well, Charlie ended up being by herself, because two (2) little boys couldn't be found. It looks to me like Sawyer took the day off too. He had decided that since it was such a beautiful day he  decided that he would go hiking in the woods with his family. Grandma Lu's grandchildren love to go hiking with their mom and dad. Remember another one of Marlee's adventures all the beautiful things that they saw in the woods? The birds and squirrels, and rabbits and lots of other little animals love to play in the woods too. Don't forget all of the pretty wildflowers and green leaves on the trees. The only thing you always must remember is to go hiking with an adult and take food for a snack and always a water bottle.
Did you know that our bodies have little messengers inside us? Yup, they run around and tell our blood that we are running and jumping so we need more sugar. If we are relaxing we probably need less sugar. These messengers are very very smart. They know exactly what to do according to what we eat and drink and what activities we are doing. Isn't that interesting? Some people have to take medicine to help our little messengers. Grayson has to take medicine called insulin. So he has to take snacks and water like Sawyer, but he also has to take special snacks and insulin in a special part of his backpack. We need sugar in our bodies to give us energy. So Grayson's mama checks to make sure that he has enough sugar in his body so he can run and jump and play.
Cooper is out on the Marleewood playground playing on the slide. Hmm, that only leaves Charlie. No wonder she called Marlee a little upset. I wonder what the trouble is at Marleewood.
When Marlee and Grandma B walked into Marleewood, they knew immediately why Charlie was upset. There was box after box of supplies that she had ordered for the Christmas shoppers. Those things were not supposed to be here for another two (2) weeks! Now what?
Marlee saw Brandon next door on the T-Ball field. So she hopped in the Ranger and went over to talk to him. She asked him if he would help put away the Christmas supplies that came early. Well Brandon smiled and said, "Sure, if Marleewood will sponsor my T-Ball team. Marlee looked at Grandma B and got a big smile. So now Brandon was part of Marleewood and Marleewood was going to sponsor a T-Ball team. There is another little boy that loves to play too.
Marleewood is such a fun place, isn't it?
Who could resist that smile of Marlee's? When she grins she makes everybody smile, doesn't she?

Marlee Calls In "Sick"

Marlee and her friends were so tired. Halloween was a busy busy time for Marleewood. Some of Marlee's new friends said it was too much work and went back home. Marlee said good-bye to Joshua and Laila. They wanted to go back home and not go to work everyday.
Emma was being kept busy with music class and lots of fun things to do at home, so she wasn't going to be back on a regular basis. The same for Hannah. Hannah had helped a lot at Marleewood, but she also had another job helping her dad, so she wasn't coming back.
Marlee didn't want to go to work today so she used her video-pager and called in sick. She wasn't a bit sick, only sick of working. Hmm, I don't think that is the thing to do. I think she needed to talk to the Grandmas and get new friends to help at Marleewood. Charlie had once again ordered lots of things to sell at Christmas time. The new merchandise would be coming in any day so they needed to find some help. But instead of that she decided she wanted to go to Grandma B's house and play and watch cartoons.
Grandma B had other ideas for her little granddaughter. Laying around and not doing activities is not good for two year olds. They need to be kept busy so they can learn by doing new things. Marlee's family had purchased her something new; magic pills! Yes, Magic Pills. Grandma B put Marlee in her highchair with a glass of water. In the package were twelve (12) pills. Marlee dropped them in the water one pill at a time and Presto! A cute little animal appeared. How fun. Look at the colors; green, blue, pink, and another color, can you see more than three (3) colors?
When she was finished playing with the magic pills, she said that she was hungry. So B asked her if she would like to go to the cafe and eat this morning for something different to do. Marlee said that would be fun. So she helped get herself dressed, face washed, hair combed and away they went. She ordered breakfast at the cafe. As you can see the eggs were not to her liking. She liked the way that Grandma B made scrambled eggs. Remember her recipe?
They decided that they would go home and take a nap. Before Marlee could go to sleep she got a call on her video-pager. It was Charlie. There was trouble at Marleewood. Charlie had a smile on her face, but I don't think she was happy.
Once again, Charlie sounded upset. I wonder what happened. We shall see next time.

Marleewood Ran Out Of Candy!

If you read yesterday's story, you found out that Marlee went trick or treating with her mama and daddy. So the grandmas stayed at Marleewood to hand out candy at Marleewood. There was a huge huge line of people waiting for the doors to open to Trick Or Treaters. You saw some of those folks on the last story, didn't you?
Charlie was out of costumes. It was good that she had chosen hers early, Marlee had chosen to be a soft cuddly cow, Cooper was dapper as Chase in Paw Patrol, Sawyer wanted to be scary, so he helped with scary makeup for his mom and his sister. His sister, Talia is an expert makeup person. She helps do that a lot.

Today's story is going to be pictures of a lot of trick or treaters;

grownups and babies, and everyone in between. Even a little dog! And a big dog, Sadie May that looks scary, but she is laughing at her pink hat. She is a very good dog with the children in her neighborhood.

You cannot begin to count the trick or treat children dressed up fun, cute, and scary. They Grandmas could not keep count there were so many. Then the most horrible thing happened. They ran out of candy and there were still trick or treaters waiting in line. It just so happened that the huge lines of trick or treaters was reported to HVMO-TV Channel 2. They sent out a truck. The Grandmas saw that truck and they had to go into emergency mode. They called the grocery store and told them their problem. Deb's Market said it was just fine to send the kids over they had plenty of candy for them. So that's just what they did. The clerks in the store were all dressed up for Halloween. They danced and sang and helped the little ones get their treats.

The Grandmas breathed in a huge sigh and said, "Thank goodness Halloween won't be for another year. We will order more candy next year that's for sure. Marleewood had trouble enough keeping snacks on hand for their Marleewood friends. The only thing they had left in the kitchen was Pumpkin Seeds they had roasted for a snack and they were almost gone. Trick or Treaters sometimes like things that aren't sweet to eat too. So thank you Ms. Debbie for the help. We had a Marlee adventure about small towns. This is one more example of caring and fun that you find in a small town.

There are many many pictures left to look at in this story. So don't quit looking there are about twenty more or thereabouts.
  ***********************************************

I hope you enjoyed the photo journey with Marlee and her friends at Marleewood with family and friends from the east coast to the west coast. From the far south to the north. We love you all.
Thank you so much for sharing all of your fun pictures with us. We will see you soon.

The Day After Halloween

The day after Halloween was a busy one.  The costume shop was pretty much empty. Costumes were thrown all over the floor. There were big ones and little ones all over the place! Charlie was fit to be tied. The Grandmas were too. The costume shop was to be emptied out and the new Christmas gifts had to be put on the shelves. They all had to be taken out of the boxes,  put on shelves and priced. Charlie had budgeted for everything. The huge costume sales had helped Charlie buy all of the things that she needed for Christmas decorations.
While Marlee and Charlie were cleaning and restocking the shelves and the kitchens, some children had been trick or treating the night before.

They had stopped at their  great grand parent's house to see them

and show them their Halloween costumes. They had a grand time. It was also their  great grandfather's birthday. There are all kinds of fun costumes aren't there? I see many different colors. What colors do you see? I see green and red, are there any other colors?
While everyone was busy inside Marleewood, people were lining up outside in their Halloween costumes to go Trick or Treating on the parking lot and playground.
Far far away there were young children that lived in an apartment many miles away. It was very cold where they lived. They wanted to go Trick or Treating too, but they didn't have any costumes or plastic pumpkins to take for their treats. So their mama gave each of her four (4) children pillow cases to take to peoples' houses. They went up and down the streets and knocked on doors and said, "Trick or Treat!" People smiled and gave them candy, but one man and his wife also had a little shed that was next to their

house. In this shed was a lot of small toys. He said, "You can each take a toy and put in your pillow case, Happy Halloween!" So the youngsters did just that. They went down one street and across to the other side of the street. They knocked on a lot of doors and were very cold. By the time they got home each one of the children had their pillow cases full of candy and toys! What a fun

Halloween for them. But when they got home they had to climb a lot of stairs. They climbed one long bunch of stairs, then another, and then another. by the time they got to the top of the fourth floor they were so tired and cold that they could hardly move. Their mama laughed and helped them out of their coats and hats and mittens and helped them carry their pillowcases to the kitchen. She made each one of them a  cup of hot chocolate. Then they all sorted out their candy and toys and put them in a bowl. They had enough candy and toys to last for a long long time. Wasn't that a fun story? It was a true story boys and girls and one that will not be soon forgotten.
Later on there will be a  story all about Marlee's and her friend's trick or treating fun on Halloween evening. There will be lots and lots of pictures so you can see all of their costumes. They had so much fun. I bet they are really tired today. Or...maybe their mamas and daddies are tired!
Here are two (2) pictures one (1) of Grayson and one (1) of Marlee on their way Trick Or Treating.
