Grandma B Hires A Private Detective

After they had eaten both Grandmas were anxious to go inside the Toy Museum.  They each thought that they probably needed to talk to the manager to see exactly what had happened. They needed to know how long Baby Carole Anne had been missing. They also needed to know exactly where the shelf was that she had been sitting on.

Grandma Lu was fascinated with the museum and kept going towards the dinosaur section. Grandma B had to keep her from getting lost every time she turned around she was gone. Finally she found her giggling when she saw a little boy and his grandma being silly. Grandma B finally got an arm around her shoulder and said, "Come on, let's find somebody that knows something around here, this place is huge."
Well they did find someone and guess what? The Toy Museum actually had six museums inside of one building. They were huge places with all different kinds of toys! Every toy you could think of.

They finally were shown how to get to the doll section. It was entirely full of dolls. Rag dolls, Elvis dolls, and Barbie dolls. Great big dolls, skinny dolls, old dolls, and new dolls. There were girl dolls and boy dolls. There were two dolls that were beautiful. Grandma Lu thought that she had seen them before somewhere. There were some dolls that were kind of scary looking. They looked and looked, but could not find a single shelf that had baby dolls on them. Then at long last they found someone that worked there. The lady remembered Baby Carole Anne. She told the Grandmas that one day she went to work and she was gone. She had just disappeared.

Well Grandma B was not having that at all. She called after that lady, and said, "Hey, I want to talk to your manager. It is really important that we find that doll. She may have left to go help a little child."
The lady that worked at the store started laughing. She thought that "B" was being silly and told her so. She said, "I'm sorry to laugh at you. I know that it is not nice to laugh at people. Dolls cannot just leave to help children. You and I both know that."
In the old days, "B" would have agreed with her. But after hearing the legend of Baby Carole Anne she had changed her mind. She kept thinking about Marlee. What if it was Marlee that needed her help?
What was Marlee doing? Where was Marlee? Was Marlee okay? She just had a feeling that Marlee didn't feel good.
Let's check on Marlee and see how her birthday trip to the aquarium is coming along. We know that she was having a really good time with her mama and daddy or was she?
Grandma B was not always a patient person. She liked to have mysteries solved fast. She wanted the answers NOW! She had an idea. "I am going to hire a private detective. I saw an advertisement for the Naynay & Family Detective Agency when we were coming out of the restaurant. Come on Grandma Lu we are going to get this mystery solved once and for all."

  1. The dolls that you see in the top of the story were crocheted by Marie Lizotte when she was 100 years old.
