Marlee thought, "I think I am going to look in my mirror and see if it will tell me that I'm beautiful like it must have told the mean old witch. That probably was the reason that she smiled every time she looked in it."
She walked over to her mirror and said, "Hey, mirror, am I pretty today?" Hmm, she thought, "I'm not getting an answer." Marlee tried several times to get the mirror to talk to her, but didn't get an answer. She started to walk away when she heard a grumpy voice, "Alright, alright! What do you want, kid? I'm busy you know. People are always wanting to know if they look good. I'm not having a good day so make it snappy!"
"My cousin, your bathroom mirror isn't having a good day either. He always seems to get steamed up about something these days. So what is it that you want? You want me to tell you that I think that you are beautiful, right? Well, I'm going to say this just one time and one time only. I am an Honest Mirror. You know what that is? Honest means that you tell the truth, no tricks, no stories, always the truth. So this is how it is."
"Yes, you are beautiful, but there is another little girl in the forest called Snow White that is beautiful too. She is waiting for Prince Charming to come and give her a kiss. That will wake her up. But right now the wicked queen has put a spell on him and he's a frog floating on a lily pad. I tell you what, kid, these fairy tales are hard on an old mirror like me. I tell you what you can do. You can get somebody to read these old stories to you and that might help you. That's all for now. Some other person is wanting me to tell them they are beautiful. What a job I have. See you little girl.
Good luck!"
Well, Marlee thought that her mirror was all mixed up because "Propunzul had been looking for Prince Charming too. "That mirror said that there is another beautiful girl in the forest. I think I have heard of her. She has a mean stepmother that made her go live in the forest with a bunch of elves. I think I will ask Grandma Lu someday when I see her at Marleewood. She says I have a good "magination". Maybe I just "magined" that my mirror was talking to me. I don't know," she giggled.
"I had probably better put my play clothes on so I don't get my new dress dirty." And that's just what Marlee did.
On the edge of the forest there were little garden gnomes that were
busy talking to their friends, Jayce and Jaydon. They were beautiful dogs that would probably go along with their risky idea.
Honesty is the best policy. I am just so very glad my mirror can't talk! Have a fun day everyone.
