The Pool Party

Grandma B had made some calls to see if some of Marlee's Marleewood friends could come out to the  Mini Farm for a pool party. She assured the parents that they were certainly welcome too. The weather was supposed to be beautiful and very warm. Some folks asked if they could bring something to the party. Grandma B said, "No, not this time. I have been baking and already have some snacks on hand, so just bring the kids and some beach towels. You can bring some lawn chairs if you want to, otherwise just bring a blanket. We can sit in the shade out on the lawn."
Grandma B was pleased that a lot of folks had said yes, that they would love to come. So she told Marlee that they were going to have a pool party! Marlee was so excited! She had never had a pool party before. This was going to be so much fun.

Soon it was going to be time for the children and their parents and their grandparents to arrive. Marlee, Papa, and Grandma B had carried out coolers for drinks and some snacks were put on the picnic table.
Marlee got her swimsuit on and went out to the pool. Last year she didn't like water in her eyes. This year she loved to play in the water. She couldn't wait for everybody to come.

Cars started to arrive out at the farm. Stashia and Zoe were barking like crazy so Grandma B put Stashia in the house and Zoe went to the garage where it was cool. She has a big fur coat, doesn't she? Her food and water are out there too.

Kylee and Kenlee had brought some inflatables for the pool. They said that they would share with everyone.
Marlee said, "I will share my toys too." She had learned to share a long time ago. Coralynn and Lucas, and Addison and her mama were there too. This was quite a party. There was room for everyone out at the farm. Oh there are Bella, Jax and Aiden. They all were having fun keeping cool too.

Some of her friends couldn't come.
Charlie was at her Nanny's house. They were going out on the boat so she had her life jacket on. She loves to go out on the lake in the boat. She said if Marlee had another pool party that she would love to come though.
Bradshaw couldn't come because he had gone fishing. He even had his very own fishing pole.

Emma got to come. She had all kinds of inflatable toys too.
Marlee loved all of her friends. Some were older, some were shorter, some cried because they were little, and some couldn't eat the same food that she could eat. Some of her friends wore glasses. She remembered that Grandma Lu had told her one time that kids had made fun of her for wearing glasses when she was little. Marlee thought that was silly. She would never make fun of anyone that looked different than her.

Marlee looked around at all of her friends and decided that she didn't want to be a swan after all. She liked being a little girl and having so many friends; not an ugly duckling in the bunch! With that thought she splashed some water and giggled and had a wonderful time at her first pool party.

What Marlee didn't know was that in a land far away sat a frog on a lily pad floating on a pond. His soft little noises of "ribbit ribbit" could only be heard by the woodland creatures and the little boy with sparkling eyes that had put him there. You see this frog was a very special frog that needed a kiss from a special princess if I remember right...

  1. Marlee was so right. Not an ugly duckling in the bunch. I love pool parties. They are so much fun, but the frog? Not so much. This might prove interesting.
