She had dropped the harp on the way down the beanstalk and she could hear the harp cry out, "Help me please, help me!" Marlee didn't know what to do, save herself, or save the harp. If she saved the harp maybe they both would fall or get caught by the mean old giant.

Suddenly she saw a very tall man looking up at her. "Hey there, Miss Marlee, could you use a little help getting down from there?"
Maddie |
Maddie said, "Yes, you can help me down too! I've been waiting and waiting just like Arieanna. I'm pretty big though, maybe I can get down by myself."
Emma said, "Thank you very much for helping me swing, Mr. Tall Man. That was fun!"

The tall man looked up into the tree and grinned. He reached down and picked up his old straw hat and said, "Okay girls, give me your hands and I will help you down." Then he grinned at Emma and said, "You are very welcome Miss Emma, it was my pleasure." He tipped his straw hat at Emma's mama and walked down the street whistling a happy tune.
The tall man first helped Marlee down and then he helped the other girls down. Everyone was safe. They said, "Thank you!"
Pretty soon Marlee felt someone shaking her. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. She was in a nice soft bed at Marleewood. Grandma B said. "Hurry up, Sleepy Head, we have to get back to the Mini Farm now. We have lots of work to do in the garden. The beans are ready to be picked. It's going to be hot pretty soon if we don't hurry."
Marlee couldn't believe her ears. She was going to have to work in the hot sun picking beans? After all she had gone through in her dream she still had to work. "Oh well, I guess I had better go help Grandma B. She cooks those beans really good."
And that is exactly what Marlee did.
Lucy and her friend were hiding in what was left of the beanstalk after it had been chopped down by the Tall Man. They had been watching all of the excitement. They had seen her being brave and rescuing the giant's harp. They had seen all of the money she had given her mama. They stopped Marlee and said, "Wow, you rescued a magic harp! We heard you even got a hen that laid golden eggs. Can you help us do that too?"
Marlee grinned and said, "Sure, all you have to do is plant one of these magic beans. I have only one left. It will give you everything you ever wanted and then some. Good luck."
This series was so much fun to write because of the great photos. I don't know about you but I have awakened from a dream because it was scary and have actually changed the outcome of it when I went back to sleep. Little Miss Marlee was conned and now is attempting to con the beautiful girls. I added that because sometimes these things escalate and completes a circle. Like Barney Fife used to say, "We've got to nip it in the bud, nip it in the bud."
ReplyDeleteThe story also shows bravery. Marlee had to decided whether to save only herself or the harp. It ended up well, but many of the brave rescues don't. Many twists and turns in this series. Once again thanks to Darrell CrossWhite for making these stories great.
