The Mean Old Lady Was Dressed As A Pirate

The crowds were terrible especially so because the Pirate Parade had been going full swing for several days. There were hundred maybe thousands of people all gathered on the streets. There were old people, young people, children and of course, and some pets of all kinds.
There were many many stores that sold all kinds of things that were related to pirates. The cafe's were full of folks too. It seemed like to Grandma Lu that she had been walking the streets for hours. She had stopped at so many stores she couldn't begin to count them. At long last she found a store with a hat that reminded her of her Stetson cowboy hat. She loved that hat even though it was very old. She took it back to her motel room and tried it on. "Well, I don't think it does a thing for me, but I will wear it tomorrow at the parade. I want to fit in with the crowd."

What Grandma Lu didn't know was that she had been followed. The mean old woman had watched her at each and every stop she had made. She even knew the next morning when she walked down to the beach to watch the parade. The old woman was dressed as a pirate as well. She blended in with crowd so no one would notice her. She had a plan for Grandma Lu.

The three ladies were making a list for the folks that wanted to be in the Treasure Hunt. There were ten things on the list: a gold chain, parrot feather, pirate picture (it had to be authentic or real), sea biscuits, cackle berries, a Jolly Roger (pirate flag) a picture of Johnny Depp dressed in a pirate costume, a toy sword, an eye patch, and a wooden leg. The first person to bring all of these things to the judges at a stated time and date would be the winner of an authentic pirate trunk. It supposedly had belonged to Lady Kathleen the original owner many many years ago. The people that wanted to enter had to pay ten dollars to the judges. That money would go to the children that were sick in the hospital when the contest was over.

Grandma B and her friends had found that the parrots on the island were tame. They loved having them on their shoulders or finger. Westin's grandma even sent him a picture on his mama's phone to show him. She said that she would save a feather for him so he could have a souvenier from her trip.

Grandma B however, was going to keep hers. So the night before they were going to dock in Florida she carefully packed a little feather in her suitcase wishing that she had found some evidence of her ancestors; Lady Bonita especially, while she was on the enchanting little island.

In her quest to find anything that had belonged to her ancestors she had accumulated quite a few souveniers that she knew for a fact had belonged to Lady Bonita or Lady Kathleen. She had paid a fortune for them, but she felt that she needed them for Marlee and Whitlee, her granddaughters.
She had secretly put them in her suitcase as well as the feather. She was so disappointed that she hadn't retreived the trunk that Kaysyn had seen in the water. She just knew that it had contained treasures as well.

  1. I am writing these stories in the midst of a pandemic I almost feel strange talking about Grandma Lu shopping amidst crowds of people when at this time we are being urged to stay at home as much as possible
