Day One Of Marlee's Trip

Marlee had raced around her bedroom at her Grandma B's house gathering up things she needed for her trip. She had most of what she needed for her trip to Colorado. She had her police uniform, her horse and dog treats, a swimsuit, and of course, some money and her cell phone. She decided to wear a dress for the first leg of the trip. Dresses were her favorite and of course, her fashion sunglasses. She heard her daddy out in the living room. She ran over and gave him a hug and said she would see him soon. She needed to know for sure if she had thrown Grandma Lu's stimulus check away. If she had she needed to get a job to earn the money for her old friend.

Soon she was heading out the driveway for her most exciting adventure yet. She was not only going to Colorado, but she was going to question the crook that had stolen Marleewood's trash can. She grinned to herself. "This is actually police business so it is a working vacation," she chuckled. "Too bad it is a volunteer job with no pay or I would give it to Grandma Lu. Oh well. I am ready to go."

Grandma B had called ahead to let her friends know that Marlee would be arriving soon on her way to Colorado. Her first stop would be much sooner than she had figured on. It was raining! And what girl can resist some fun in the rain with good friends! Kylee, Kenlee and Aadon were all having such a good time. She remembered that a long time ago Grandma Lu had taught her how to hold an umbrella and dance in the rain. "That was a fun day," she thought.

Soon Marlee told her friends that she must hurry and get back on the road. She thought that she would drive until she got tired and try to find a campground to park her camper for the night. It was kind of scary, but she was on a mission. She just had to know where Grandma Lu's check was. "You will be four years old this year, Girl. Now get dried off and get on the road to Colorado. You can do this!"

Marlee didn't notice, but Roxie was out for a ride in her favorite little red wagon with David. "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. I have never seen a rig like that before. It's pink! And a little girl is driving it down our road. There's a car following her real slow. I wonder what is going on around here? And they call me a crazy kid.."

  1. A few friends, a sense of duty, and wide open spaces. What else can you ask for? Hmm maybe a campground that has even more friends?
