The "Besties" Start Out Having A Good Day

Marlee had been very busy with her new business and also scouting for recipes. She had been missing her very best friend however, and decided that she was just going to take the day off to spend with Stashia. Stashia was Grandma B's big wrinkled dog. She loved Marlee and Marlee loved her.
One of the things that they just loved to do together is lay on Grandma B's bed and watch television. It was much better, of course, if Marlee brought food in with her, but today, no snacks, just being together and snuggling was enough. Stashia was in Heaven.
Marlee had even gone outside with her early this morning when she went potty. Now that's a true friend.
Marlee had decided to make this a very special day for Stashia. She had a visit with Grandma B about her One More Bite cooking school. She didn't see why the things that she taught other kids to make had to be food for humans or even things to eat. Well I'm sure that's another story.
Getting back to making things that are not for humans to eat. Stashia loved any kind of snack. Do you remember the stories where Stashia would just wait for Marlee to drop cheese balls? She also loved people food that Marlee would drop on the floor. I seem to remember a whole bag of potato chips one day that managed to be dropped on the floor by Miss Marlee before she was two (2). Stashia made a dash for those. She loves chips!
Grandma B thought Marlee had a good idea so she suggested that they make Stashia some treats just for her. What a good Grandma B! I wonder if Marlee tastes those before she puts them in a container for Stashia; probably. They got the dog treats all done. They have to be baked too. Then they have to be cooled and then put in a container. They cleaned up the mess that cooking makes and did the dishes.
Marlee heard a buzzing come from her bag. It was her video pager. It was Sawyer. She and Grandma B had put him in charge of Marleewood so that Marlee could have the day off to hang out with Stashia. It was not good news. There was a bad water leak in one of the kitchens. Sawyer said that the plumbing was very old and she would probably have more problems in the future. She needed new plumbing throughout all of the kitchen areas.
Marlee thanked him for calling and went immediately to Grandma B and told her what Sawyer had said. Grandma B said, "Okay, let's go see just how bad it is, Marlee. So they got their coats on and left Stashia alone one more time. But this time Marlee promised Stashia that she would be back soon. They would have lots more fun together. She even whispered in Stashia's ear that she would stay longer next time. Stashia just leaned up next to Marlee and made that low noise in her throat. She knew her friend would be back. She just missed her. So she went back to "B's" bed and did a "dog smile" and went to sleep.
