A Fun Trip To The Grocery Store!

Marlee was staying with her Grandma B for a few days. Boy, had they ever been busy! They had been cooking, and cleaning, and baking, and making candy, and even had been wrapping some Christmas presents. Marlee didn't much care for that so after awhile, she decided to open one that was under the tree before "B" could stop her! There is never a dull moment when Marlee is around as you well know if you have been reading about some of her adventures.
Today Grandma B wanted to run into town to the grocery store. Grandma B asked Marlee if she would like to go along. Of course, she said she would.
However, when Marlee walked in there was a Santa Claus. Well, her mama and daddy had taken her to see a Santa one day last week and she just was not impressed at all. Marlee could not wait to get off from his lap. I have a feeling that she didn't tell him what she wanted for Christmas.
Well, Marlee watched for awhile and she saw that the lady that she knew at the grocery store seemed to like that Santa. So she watched some other children go over to him.
Oh my, look there is Liam, and Addalynn and the rest of their family all gathered around this Santa. Well, since they all seemed to be happy about the whole situation, she thought she would give it another try. It was kind of like eating spinach, you think it tastses yukky, but then you try kale which also is green, but some people say that it tastes better.
Marlee is a brave little girl. She thought, "If my friends can do it, so can I."
Slowly, Marlee walked over to him with quite a bit of encouragement from her Grandma B. She did it!! But only if Miss Debbie would go with her. If you look closely, not quite a smile on her little face, but determination to like it because she was "big."

Finally she decided all was well and sat on Santa's lap all by herself. Now that's a Marlee smile if I ever saw one. She had proved not only to herself, but to all those big people that she was a brave little girl.

Grandma B and Miss Debbie know each other. They were talking about a box that asked for donations for people that might need a little help during the holidays. Sometimes it is hard to understand, not only for little folks like Marlee and Sawyer, but some children just don't have enough to eat. There are so many reasons for this and Marlee and her friends are way to young to understand this. However, even though Marlee was only two (2) she had been learning about donations because of all the wonderful people in her small town. So many of them had donated things for Marleewood. She motioned towards the box and Grandma B said that they were going to donate some food that needed to be put in the refrigerator so they couldn't put their donation in the box. Marlee was happy because they were giving back. Giving back to their people in their small home town.
She also had another reason. It had to do with her friend, Sawyer. They had become friends during the blue 4 wheeler mystery. They both had a wish to tell Santa that would not be a gift for under the tree. It had to do with something that they had both seen on their devices, she on her tablet and he on his Leap Frog.
On her way out to the car Marlee looked at the store front window. Oh how fun, what do you see on the windows? Marlee stopped so her Grandma B could take her picture for Grandma Lu. Then she was ready to go home.
Talk to you soon.

  1. Trying out a new Santa to Marlee is like her One More Bite Cooking School. She will always try one more "bite" probably throughout her life just to make sure that she does or does not like something. Santa, probably being the least of these. Fun story, but a lesson of giving that has been handed down to her throughout her family for generations.
