A Special Santa Also Grants Wishes For Older Folks

Did you know that older people believe in Santa Claus? Well, they do with all their heart. They believe in the Miracle of Christmas that he carries in his bag. They believe in his twinkling eyes, and the twitch of his nose, and the jolly Ho Ho Ho as he jokes with them.
The older folks have known Santa for many many years. They believed that he would grant the wishes in their hearts, not their letters. Probably those older folks didn't know that they could write Santa a letter to tell you the truth.
Santa was a "feeling of hope" in their hearts that they would have enough food to eat and enough coal for the fire.
They also believed that Santa just might brave the snow drifts and deliver either a homemade doll, a little truck for a little girl or boy or some new pajamas for their little ones. Maybe a tin of coffee for the grownups. They really didn't care what he brought, just so that there was something under the tree for their little ones on Christmas morning. Sometimes when times were really hard Santa just couldn't deliver any gifts. So folks made do with what they had and were glad of it.
Yes, they have grown old with Santa. He knows their children and their grandchildren. He may even know their great grandchildren if they have them. He also knows that he carries the Hope of the World in his bag of gifts. He carries a Peace of All Understanding for his friends, both old and the young.
He has a red furry suit, he may even wear "camo" boots in this day and age. But I will tell you a very important rule about Santa; he always wants you to believe in the good of the world. Even when it is so very difficult with all of our problems. He returns year and year after year just to check up on us if nothing else. He gives them a smile, a chuckle and a pat on the shoulder, and shakes hands with the vigor of a young man.
So my friends, both old and very young, Santa never changes, only his outfit or his mode of travel. He may visit you on a snowmobile, a SUV, or even a wheelchair. I have seen all of those modes of transportation. That's because I am one of those older Santa believers.
The last time I saw Santa he was invited to visit a special place and have breakfast with folks as well as have his picture taken with them. He had a lovely lady helper with him too! She was dressed up pretty in red with a Santa Hat to match his. She gave out little bags of goodies to the children when they visited Santa. Such a fun time.
The children that visited Santa that day all had big smiles on their faces. Yes, he had done his job!
Merry Christmas Santa, come again next year.
