Blizzard Party #3

Natalie just kind of looked around in wonder and amazement. This had never happened to her before. These people were having a party for goodness sake's. She couldn't believe it. But before she knew it, a little person had grabbed her hand and said, "Hi, could you help me find my bag? It has my stuff in it." Natalie looked down at this sweet face and said, "Well, of course, I will." She was fast becoming a part of a brand new family. A family forced together by a storm, but brought together by friendship and kindness.
Natalie looked out the window and saw that it was really snowing out there. The tree branches were heavy with snow. She could see the children outside playing though. She grinned really big when she saw Charlie building the best snow man ever! Oh, Charlie was having so much fun.
So was Harleigh. You could hardly see her little face. She was all bundled up with a hat and snow suit too. Mrs. Liz was keeping an eye on her children too. She smiled at them and waved. They would soon be coming in the house to warm up. The snow was getting in their face, but they too were grinning and having so much fun.
Some of the children had decided to play some games inside. Brandon had an idea about something that he had made at home. He asked Natalie if she could find him some paper plates and maybe some pipe cleaners.  She felt a little odd about looking for things in her new friend's house, but Grandma B said, "I brought some paper plates just in case the power went out. They are in that bag over by the door." Brandon was happy he could show some of his Marleewood friends a project he and his mom had been working on. Isn't his snowman cute? It's amazing what a little glue, markers, and some imagination can do with some paper plates.
Soon Mrs. Liz came stomping in the door covered with snow from head to foot along with the snow covered children. Oh, their cheeks were all red and their eyes were just sparkling with fun. Some of the children couldn't remember ever having played in snow before. What a memory maker this snow storm turned out to be. However, fun can only last so long.
Soon there was grumbling and mumbling. Things like, "There isn't anything to do. I'm hungry. I want to watch TV. I want to go home. I want my daddy. Let's go home now."
The fun idea of a blizzard party had worn out its welcome. Now it was time for the older ladies to tell the children what it was like when they were younger and snowed in.
Maybe even time to tell the mamas and the older children what their ancestors went through when they were their age.
