Natalie Doesn't Want To Get Stuck In The Country

After the grandmas and some of the children left Marleewood they all went to the local grocery store and bought some groceries for Mrs. Liz and for their homes as well. Sometimes when the weather man says it's going to be a bad storm they are absolutely right so you need to have things on hand just in case you aren't able to get to the grocery store.
Marleewood was in an area that did not get many big snow storms, so this actually was kind of exciting for them.
Some things you really need are scoop shovels, ice melt, batteries, and if the lights go out you need candles and/or oil lanterns. You also need water to drink, don't you?
Marlee loves water and often is seen with a cup of water at hand.
Grandma B had a good head on her shoulders and had put a big pan of bread pudding in her car before they left Marleewood. She knew that it would feed her friend and her family for quite some time. Marlee had helped her the other day. For some unknown reason they had made a big batch.
The ladies also knew that often times you needed to be able to cook when you didn't have electricity. They had in their past used an outdoor grill, a smoker, and a small camper stove. Sometimes lucky people had a woodstove or a fireplace to cook on too. Grandma Lu smiled to herself. She had been in a bad ice storm when her husband's mom and brother were without electricity for five (5) days. She had cooked for them all with a turkey fryer that was run with propane. Those were the days before they had a generator. That is a machine that runs on gasoline. It has plug in on it that you can plug in a refrigerator or lamps etc.

Some of the larger ones can even run a furnace. They had one now and had used it several times.
Grandma Lu smiled to herself because she had so many winter time stories to tell the children someday.
Aunt Nat and Natalie went along with the children and the grandmas and had a nice visit. Aunt Nat told her how sorry she was for causing trouble, but she thought that was the only way that Natalie would come home to visit.  She was so sorry that she hadn't been honest. She would tell Grandma Lu how sorry she was and that she would pay for the damage she caused to her car. She and her granddaughter were the only family that she had. Natalie realized immediately what a good idea it was that she had decided to quit the NASCAR try outs. She was needed at home. The two (2) of them would get this all sorted out and be a family again.
By the time they all got out to the farm it was snowing pretty hard. At times it was even hard to see the road. "Oh dear, thought Natalie, I don't know if this was a good idea to have taken my Auntie out in this storm. What if she falls, or gets sick?" She silently prayed that they all would be safe. They would deliver the food and necessary storm items and get back to their homes without an accident. Why oh why did she drive this Corvair in this kind of weather? So far it had handled okay, but she sure would have liked a four (4) wheel drive pickup
instead. Interestingly enough she had seen a yellow four wheel drive pickup at the grocery store parking lot. It was really cool. She knew that whoever drove that truck could get through a lot of snow and be safer on the roads than she was.
She looked up in her rear view mirror and saw a lot of cars following her. "Oh no, why are there so many people? We are all going to get stuck out here in the country if we aren't careful."
Bella and Chase
What Natalie didn't know was that they soon would all be snowed in, but would be making all kinds of new friends and learning old tricks for being without power. And don't forget, memories!
Bella and her dog, Chase can't believe all the cars that are pulling into their yard.
