Blizzard Party!

When everybody pulled into Mrs. Liz's driveway it looked like half of Marlee's small hometown had pulled in. Everyone that had been shopping in Ms. Deb's grocery story had heard about her asking for the grandmas to bring her out some groceries. People in cities help each other too, but it seems like this little town was small enough that everyone knew everyone and many were  related as well. So that being said, if someone needed help or was in trouble everyone that could, helped without giving it a thought.
Grayson and his mom had been in the grocery store and had heard about Mrs. Liz needing some groceries.
The end result was that Grayson and his mama brought out some blankets and food that didn't need to be cooked just in case the power went out. Grayson was never without his continuous glucose monitor and his insulin supplies that included his monitor. Grayson has Type1 Diabetes. The little organ in his body called a pancreas that should create insulin on its own doesn't work, so he has to have insulin given to him. He also needs his blood sugar checked often. He has to have sweet snacks on hand in case his sugar level is too low. So they had brought some of those with them also.

Grandma Lu's husband has Type 2 Diabetes and checks his sugar also. He takes pills and watches his diet instead of getting shots of insulin. His Diabetes has two (2) factors. His mother had Diabetes and he is older. His pancreas is getting old too, therefore it needs help by way of special medicine.
Just because Grayson has Diabetes doesn't mean that he can't do things that he enjoys. He had told his mama, that going out to the farm sounded like another one of Marlee's adventures that he wanted to be part of. She agreed that it sounded like fun. It had been a long time since they had had a big snow in their area.
Charlie and her grandma went to the farm of course, loaded down with groceries and snacks for them at home and also some things to take for Mrs. Liz. Charlie was so excited she couldn't stand it. She had never been to a farm before.

Natalie and Aunt Nat unloaded their car and introduced themselves to Mrs. Liz. She thanked them and asked if they would like something warm to drink before they headed back to town. Natalie told her that was so nice, but they needed to get back before they got snowed in. Natalie was confused when she heard all of the laughter going on. These people acted like this was some kind of party. What in the world was wrong with them?
If they didn't hurry up they would all get snowed in out here. Aunt Nat patted her niece on the arm and said, "Natalie, this is what we call a Blizzard Party. You are in a home now that is full of love. You are going to learn how folks that are close friends and neighbors do when it snows. You will have a ball."
Natalie just shook her head in disbelief. Everyone was so happy. She suddenly realized that while she had made a lot of money racing cars, she had missed out on one of the most important things in life; friends. She didn't have any friends. She didn't stay in one place long enough to make any. She again got little tears in her eyes and smiled at the same time. She was home. And home was where she was going to stay. She was going to ask her Auntie Nat if she could stay with her for awhile. She looked around and grinned from ear to ear. She was having fun already.
If you notice the picture of Marlee, she has on a soft warm housecoat that Grandma B had thrown in the car because she had a feeling that they would be staying at Mrs. Liz's house for a party.
Oh this sounds like so much fun! Have you ever been snowed in?
