Ranger Rex And Playing Dress Up
Today was the day that Marlee got to stay with Grandma B and Papa on the Mini Farm. She always liked to go there because there was so much to do. There were mini donkeys and mini horses. There were dogs, cats, and now the baby goat. Ranger Rex was his name. It seems that he is getting into trouble with Grandma B and Marlee's special wrinkled dog friend, Stashia. He had even climbed up on Marlee's desk where she colors and does her lists. "This will just not do," thought Grandma B.
Stashia is not in the least bit friendly with him. He goes against all of the rules at the Mini Farm. He even eats up Grandma B's decorations in the house. He head buts people and pets. (That's what goats do whether they are little or not.) Stashia heard Grandma B tell Papa that it would soon be time for Ranger Rex to go outside with the rest of the animals. She almost grinned! He was such a tiny baby goat when he first came to the mini farm that he needed to be in the house. He needed fed from a bottle many many times a day.
But soon he would have his own pen outside and maybe someday Grandma B would get him some company; one or two (2) little goats. They are called pygmy goats. Maybe he would even have his own house. We will have to wait and see. He drinks from a bottle now but not nearly as often. That's because he can eat grass outside. Can you guess what kind of milk he drinks?
As soon as Marlee walked in the door Ranger Rex came to meet her. She loved him, but she had something on her mind. She went out to the kitchen and said, "Grandma B can we go to Marleewood today? I want to see Grandma Lu." Grandma B said, "Honey, I'm sorry, but we need to stay here today. I have flowers to plant and Ranger Rex is giving me so much trouble. We had better stay here. How about if we go to Marleewood tomorrow? I will call Grandma Lu and she can come have coffee and a cookie with us. Okay?" Marlee wasn't happy, but she knew that tomorrow would be the third day. The day that Grandma Lu promised to bring back the golden egg that she had given her at the Wish Party. She was okay with that and went outside to play.
Papa said, "Come on, Marlee girl, let's go outside and play with that new riding toy that you got at the garage sale yesterday. Remember we saw Kylee and Kenlee's nana there? It's always fun to see friends and get new things isn't it?" Marlee's face broke out into a smile and ran to the door. She loved playing with her Papa.
Kylee's nana was happy with herself today. She had been happy that she had gone to the grocery store even though she had been tired. Two (2) of her grandchildren showed up to visit. They decided they would like to play dress up today. Their nana loved this nearly as much as they did. They went through all the boxes of clothes and jewelry that she kept for them.
She said, "Girls help me go through these bags of things that I got at the Thrift Shop and a garage sale yesterday. There might be some things you like to play with today. Oh, did I tell you that I saw Marlee and her family at the garage sale yesterday? They said to tell you girls and Aadon hi for them." The girls didn't pay much attention to what she was saying because they were having too much fun digging through all of the goodies their nana had to play dress up.
One of the girls found a bag of hand bags. They threw the one that their nana had liked. It was too big. They each decided that they didn't want a purse. They liked high heels. Makeup and jewelry and maybe even funny hats were in the bags. How much fun they were having.
After nana and her granddaughters finished playing dress up that afternoon she asked the girls to put their "play clothes" back in the bags so they would be there the next time they wanted to play. They did what they were asked and went outside to play.
Aadon came over later and the black bag was completely forgotten and put away in a special closet for rainy days....

My daughter had 6 children. She had a complete closet designated just for playing dress up. They loved it. I'm afraid that the black bag has gotten shoved to the back of the closet and forgotten. This may mean a broken promise coming up in the next story.
ReplyDeleteI have intended to have a closet just for dress up for years now. Never have done it yet. Goodness knows we have enough stuff to fill it up.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter home schooled all of her children. She always had clothes for them to dress up for their studies. I can remember they dressed up for Greek mythology and for African studies as well as Halloween and other fun costumes just for every day dress up fun.
