The Closet Door Was Open

The girls didn't realize that their nana could hear them playing in the dress up closet. She heard them make a wish. She grinned to herself and hurried out to the shop where her husband was. She told them that the girls had made a wish that they could live in a tree house. She said, "We have lots of timber around here. Why don't you and I build one for them. We can see if the girls' parents want to help. We can make them a tree house. We will make it safe so they don't get hurt. I always wanted a tree house too. I still think that it would be fun to get up in there and look all over the timber. What do you think?"
He thought it over and agreed.

They have some pits (big holes in the ground) on their farm that fill with water. Their friends love to come out once a month with their trucks and play in the mud. The trucks are noisy and everybody gets muddy. Their grandchildren have grown up with the mud pit fun, but this would be something different and fun for all of them.
That afternoon the girls left for home. As they walked out to the car they gave each other a disappointed look. They had wanted to live in a tree house so bad! They had wished on that old golden egg so hard. When it didn't work they just threw that old purse in the back of the dress up closet. They weren't going to make wishes on anything again. They decided that they would stick with playing dress up and playing in the mud. That was fun.

That evening the girls' papa was tired and decided to rest a bit in his chair before taking a shower and eating his supper.
He closed his eyes and tried to take a quick cat nap before he cleaned up. He kept hearing things. He thought he heard a buzzing sound. Then he thought he heard somebody say, "Grandma Lu are you there? If you are there will you please answer me?"
When he opened his eyes he realized that he had been asleep for a few minutes. He grinned to himself and thought, "Wow, I must have been dreaming. I could have sworn I heard some noises and somebody yelling  "Grandma Lu." I sure don't know any Grandma Lu."As he got up from his chair he heard a big "whoosh" sound coming from the timber. He was sure that he did hear that sound. He got up and looked out the window. He couldn't see anything out of the way. It wasn't windy and he couldn't see that any of the trees had fallen. He chuckled and thought to himself, "I must really have worked too hard today. I had better go get cleaned up." He never gave it another thought...
