When she got to Marleewood she did see a few cars in the parking lot. "Oh good. I wonder what everyone is doing. Hopefully there is coffee perking and a snack or two. I really should help with bringing snacks. Poor B is forever having to make sure there is snacks around here."
When Grandma Lu walked in the back kitchen door there was Marlee and Maddie having an after school snack, but they were watching videos on their tablets. "What are you guys doing? Why are you watching movies when you are at Marleewood?"
The two just looked at her and said together, "What else is there to do?"
Grandma Lu was in shock. "What do you mean, what else is there to do? There are a million things to do. Oh my goodness. Hurry up and finish your snack. I have an idea."
Grandma Lu made her way to the front hallway where they had made an old closet into a lost and found closet. People were always leaving their mittens and books and hats there, so they would put them on a table for people to find when they came back. She knew of an old trunk that had been left in there. Oh it was a great trunk full of fun things about Humansville and all kinds of photos and things. Actually she had received so many photos that she had been given a photo album at a party. She kept adding pictures, but hadn't had time or made the time to put some pictures in there. The girls can help me do that today. Movie, indeed. They need something fun to do."
While Grandma Lu was digging through the closet the travelers and hitchhiker had made a wrong turn. Oh the growling and barking and loud voices in that old pickup. It looks to me like they had made a left turn instead of a right turn. Oh no! They are in New Hampshire!
"Grumpa, look! Look at that old pickup. There is a dog driving it! But is there a lady in the back seat? Are the police going to pick them up?" His grandfather seldom smiled so he called him Grumpa, but he did have to smile when he saw such a sight. "Hmph! Silly animals. Would serve them right!"
While Grandma Lu was going through the trunk she came across a picture of Sawyer when he was just a little boy. He was saving his allowance money to buy snacks for Marleewood. "I''m just a terrible person. I have to go to the store and buy some snacks. This just will not do."
Because the grocery store had closed Grandma Lu quickly grabbed her coat and purse and ran down to the little gas station. It had all kinds of doughnuts and great snacks that would satisfy not only her sweet tooth, but make her feel better about B always buying or making snacks for her and the visitors to Marleewood.
However, Grandma Lu had left the closet door open.
This story reflects my feelings exactly. lol What else is there to do, indeed? lol Miss Sawyer too
