More Fun Than Videos?

When Marlee and Maddie had finished their after school snack they went to see what Grandma Lu was doing. They couldn't find her, but they did see a big old box  when they loooked into the Lost and Found Closet. Maddie told Marlee that it was really old and she thought that grownups called it a trunk. "It's kinda dirty and moldy. I don't think that we should look through that stuff. Yuk."

Marlee on the other hand, was always ready for an adventure, large or small, so she leaned over and once again found a treasure. "Oh look. There are pirate pictures in here. What shall we do with them?"

Maddie grinned and said, "They are really old too. I wonder who they were. I know. I heard about putting pictures and notes in a bottle and putting it in an ocean. I'll take it home. If we go to a park or someplace where there is a river or lake I'll put it in the water. Wouldn't it be fun if somebody found it? I will print our names on a piece of paper and put it in the bottle too. I wonder if we will be old before somebody finds it." They both laughed and started looking for a piece of paper to write their names on. Marlee said, "Maybe Grandma Lu was right. This really is more fun than watching videos on the tablet."

"Maddie, look. Grandma Lu has a picture of my daddy and me. I have Oreos all over my face. I like this picture. Shall we put it in the bottle too?" Maddie thought it was a good idea, but her mom came to pick her up and she hurried out without the bottle. Marlee's mom came to pick her up too. The bottle was forgotten.

When Grandma Lu got back to Marleewood everyone was gone. Oh she was so disappointed! She had wanted the girls to go through the trunk with her. She just knew that they would have had fun. Then she noticed an old bottle with some photos in it. "Hmm., I wonder where this came from." She looked inside the bottle and oh how she chuckled. "Those girls did find something fun to do today while I was gone. I think I will give this to Sandy to take with her when B and all of her friends go to the beach. They can put it in the water. Maybe somebody will find it. That would be such fun for the girls if they got an answer back."

And that is just what she did.
