In Marlee's small hometown there was a flurry of excitement. There was going to be a party at Marleewood! Two parties in fact. One for the grownups and one for the children. The older boys and girls were going to entertain the smaller children while the grownups finally had a chance to visit after the long time being spent inside because of the virus sickness. Not only were they anxious to visit and catch up with each other, but they were ready for a new hair cut or manicure or pedicure because they wanted to look their best. But there was a problem.
The Marleewood Beauty Shop was closed! They called and called and some went to the outside Beauty Shop window and looked inside. It was empty.
The Marleewood friends started calling each other and finally decided that they were going to have to do their own hair and nails. Bella was one of the first ones to have her mama help her with rollers. She practiced wearing a mask as well. This was fun being at home and laughing with her mama while she was getting pretty for the party. Diane and her granddaughter and friend decided to do their own nails. They had so much fun picking out colors and doing each other's nails. Myla and Brenna had fun getting a manicure and a pedicure. Myla's aunt is going to beauty school and Brenna's mama is a beautician and so is her grandma, so they both had a good time getting ready for the party.
Charlie felt so lucky her nanny had a friend that could do her nails. She and her nanny had so much fun picking out colors and talking about the party at Marleewood. She couldn't wait to see Marlee and all her other Marleewood friends.
Looking nice is just not for girls. Boys like to look nice too. Jackson's mom made his hair look great and so did Garrett's.
Grandma Lu was not a happy lady. The beauty shop was closed and Grandma B was so busy cooking and doing her own hair. Marlee's mama was doing her own hair and Marlee's. She had to do her hair herself. This was not good. Well, one thing about it, she would wear a hat over her hair and no one would notice, hopefully.
It was time to grab her hand bag and drive over to Marleewood. Grandma Lu smiled as she remembered when she was a child. Her mother always made sure her shoes were shined and her dress was pressed. She stopped in front of the mirror; put on her hat. She was ready to go. She called out to the kitchen and reminded her husband to get on over to Marleewood soon or the goodies would be gone. She chuckled to herself, "He's probably already over there snooping in the kitchen.
Chata's mom called out and said, "Hey, Chata, there's going to be a party at Marleewood. Do you want to go? She had on her swimsuit, but ran into the house to get ready. Chata was always ready for a new adventure. Her mom helped her curl her fur, then for a quick sit under the dryer. She was ready to go as soon as she picked out an outfit.
It seemed that a whole lot of people had heard that Marleewood was having a party. People were parked all over the place! Poor Grandma Lu. Was there room for her to park? But where was Grandma Lu's husband? Was he already at Marleewood?
The ends to what my readers go to just amazes me to no end. Eriqa and Chata! Rollers and a cooking pot for a dryer. Thank you so much. But where is Grandma Lu's husband?
